Maumee River and Lake Erie Report- Fishing License Changes- Oct 8 , 2018

LAKE ERIE EMERALD SHINERS IN STOCK

Maumee River

Seeing a few small mouth bass , plenty of catfish and a few crappie being caught . These cool nights are sparking some crappie action so hit your favorite pond or marina drop a minnow in and see waht happens.  Oh yea seeing a few pike being caught as well in the grassy/weedy areas up by Maumee bay, and swan Creek here in Toledo as well.

Lake Erie

With the crazy swings in weather this past week , calm to howling wind  and temperature  changes of 40 plus degrees in 24 hrs,  fishing from shore has been a better option for many fishermen. The picture above is some nice perch taken right off the bank a few days ago, even have reports of some limits being taken , thats 30 perch from shore- how fun is that.  Also as lake Erie temps continue to drop the night walleye bite is picking up . As long as the wind co-operates we should see a great fall shore walleye fishing season, from now until Lake Erie begins to freeze.

Can I buy a lifetime or multiyear hunting license if I haven’t taken a hunter education course?

Yes, if the licensee is not hunter-education certified, the individual will receive a license with an apprentice status (noted as AP on the license). This status requires that the holder hunts with a mentor until successfully completing a hunter education course.

What privileges does a lifetime or multiyear fishing license or hunting license allow?

A lifetime or multiyear fishing license or hunting license extends the privileges covered by the annual resident fishing license or hunting license. These licenses entitle the holder to fish or hunt in the state for the valid term of the license. All required permits (including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, fur taker, and shooting range) must be purchased separately.

Is my lifetime or multiyear license still valid if I move out of Ohio?

A lifetime and multiyear licenses will remain valid for those privileges purchased in Ohio regardless of a change in residency.

How can I purchase a lifetime or multiyear license as a gift?

When a lifetime license or multiyear license is purchased as a gift, all necessary age and residency documentation must either be presented at a wildlife office or to a notary for validation associated with the completed application.

A lifetime or multiyear license has a youth status until the child’s 18th birthday. Once he or she turns 18, the individual is no longer eligible to participate in youth hunts.

I purchased a lifetime or multiyear hunting license that indicates I am an apprentice hunter (AP). How do I get an Ohio Conservation Card that indicates I am hunter-education certified (HC)?

If you take a certified hunter education course in Ohio, a new card with HC will be sent to you upon completion of the course. If you are certified in another state, contact 1-800-WILDLIFE (1-800-945-3543) for direction on how to validate and modify the account. Once this occurs you can purchase an Ohio Conservation Card at any agent that reflects this change. An alternative is to carry your hunter education completion certificate along with your license.

How do I replace my lost or stolen Ohio Conservation Card?

A duplicate card can be purchased at any agent or ODNR Division of Wildlife office.

If I purchase an Ohio Conservation Card for hunting and fishing, will I receive two cards or will both licenses be on the same card?

If both licenses have the same expiration date, you will receive one card; however, if each has a different expiration date you will be required to have separate cards. For multiyear conservation cards you will be charged $4.00 for each card issued.
