Yesterday was a good day of fishing here on the Maumee. With overcast and cool conditions we saw the first limit of the season brought up to the shop. Also had reports and saw a good number of singles and doubles caught. Jerome rd rapids seems to be the best place so far this season to tie into these early walleye. Bluegrass and buttonwood produced a few as well as Ford street access. A word of caution about Ford street area. There is no “riverside parking ” to speak of . All parking available is on the side streets in the residential neighborhood on and around Ford st. . If and when you park there please be courteous to our neighbors . Simple things like not blocking someones driveway and picking up your trash go a long way to making the walleye run a good experience for all concerned.
Today the ambient temp is still in the mid 30s with the water temp hovering around 43 degrees- I anticipate the water being to cool as the week end approaches and these cold temps stick around. Â the walleye that have moved into the river are beginning to get active so we anticipate another good day out on the Maumee. Â Just like yesterday, if you bundle up a little bit and it ought to be a pleasant day of fishing.
