The fish numbers tend to increase after rains, espesially since it will raise the temps a bit and bring the levels back up. Water temperature figures in to walleye movement upstream, warming water being what triggers the walleye to swim up river from the cold Lake Erie.
We saw some limits yesterday . Multiple singles, doubles and triples. The winds were light , and the sun was shining , so all in all it was a very good day to go fishing.
Buttonwood, Bluegrass Island, and Jerome Rd., Rapids – these are the places with faster water – and where most fish were caught.
We have had a lot of questions about fishing out at Orleans Park or White Street, however the water is very low, so it’s extremely shallow at Orleans Park unless you literally walk out to the middle of the river to fish the deeper middle trench , which I don’t recommend.
White Street , due to the low water, the current is very slow so there’s not much of a drift. However if you want to get into some early Catfish that’ll be the place to go today .
There’s some rain in the prediction Saturday night, how much we get there’s no telling, so we will know more after it happens.
Until then, like I always say “Can’t catch ’em from the couch”.
Have fun, be safe, and good luck fishing.
