Maumee River Report -25 March 2017 -Good day of fishing yesterday, and more steelhead!

Wading to Bluegrass Island is possible

Yesterday morning was slow-there was a skin of ice on the river and the action didn’t pick up til the sun came out. We did see a limit out of bluegrass island and a few at buttonwood. Some  were caught at Jerome rd rapids as well. Today the river temp is up almost 8 degrees from yesterday, and the level remains steady , clarity is good and its going to be in the mid 40s this afternoon.  Conditions are good and we expect to see a good push of fish head up stream . Some rain would help . As you can see by the photos the action picked up pretty good as the day progressed. Bright colors were working well .

All fishing areas are accessible today .

Weight:  5/8- 3/4 oz- water still 1.5 feet below normal levels

Leader: 18- 24 inches -Shorter leaders were working good yesterday

Colors:   Success with the brighter colors yesterday but today will be darker and hopfully rainy so start with some darker colors to see if that triggers them. The Motor oil gold flake has bee h hot color this year. Shimmer shad has been working well on theses kind of days as well.  Pink head /black tail  – Orange head /orange  tail  – glow head/motor oil tail – pink head / shimmer shad(slilver with metallic flake ) tail
