A good pond for bass fishing should have fairly clear water and some aquatic vegetation and brush piles that provide cover for bass. The pond should also have more shallow water than deep water. Good lures for catching pond bass in the summertime include spinnerbaits, crankbaits, topwater lures, plastic lizards, and plastic worms . You can catch bass from a pond throughout the day in the summertime, but its often better fishing in the mornings and evenings when bass move shallower to feed on the bluegill. If you notice small, isolated patches of slight ripples on a calm day, don’t mistake that for wind—that’s a telltale sign of active bass chasing bait. This is a perfect time to throw shad or bluegill imitation baits such as spinnerbaits and small lipless crankbaits. Simply throw past the active area and retrieve your lure through the school.
Frogs: In the evening you’ll often hear a single frog begin croaking just as the sun dips below the trees. Shortly after, you’ll start to hear hundreds of frogs croak. When this happens, stop what your doing and throw a topwater frog. Frogs are most active in lowlight hours and after rain showers, and belive it -the bass know when they come out .
