maumee river report, 9 April 2023, happy Easter

All access areas including Bluegrass are accessible today.

Yesterday was slow in the morning but picked up throughout the day. Lots of limits still coming in.  It got very cold the last two nights so its taking a minute for that sunshine to warm those walleye up and get them moving .

Happy Easter everyone – Each year I refer to this  particular bible verse ,its remind me that we belong to a special group . 

Luke 5:4-7 “When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch. Simon answered,Master(Jesus), we’ve worked hard all night and havent caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets. When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.”

With out getting too theological I take away two simple things from this. First – Even the Apostles themselves got skunked and needed Jesus help to catch some fish. And second, That a good portion of Jesus friends were fishermen.

 

That river is full of walleye and the day is going to be  sunny, with a high near 61. East wind 5 to 7 mph.

 

 

 

Saftey: While we all have a good natured  laugh as members of the “Maumee River Swim Team ” please remember to move slowly and cautiously in the water . 6 inches can go to 6 ft real quick, and that water is still very cold and dangerous.  Keep an eye out for your fellow angler.

Swim team members -you learned the hard way, help your brothers and sisters out.
