The Valenti brothers , pictured above, got into some fish both Saturday and Sunday. Many of the local fishermen understand and change their techniques daily to adapt to the ever changing river conditions. Most of these anglers are not discouraged by the extreme spectrum’s of the river conditions and you see them out there in high or low water catching fish.
This past weekend we started to see some walleye fresh from the lake being taken. With the temperatures getting colder at night its going to be a few days at best before the river starts to warm past the lower 40s. That means that the bite may not be fast and furious this week so fishing pressure will be light. None the less it is encouraging that the fish have begun to move in.
Chartrusse and Firetiger seem to be the colors that are working right now . 3 ft leader and 3/4 oz weight.
The river level has dropped just about a foot since yesterday and will probably come down another 6 in or so throughout the day. As we get closer to that 582 ft mark more areas of the river will become fishable.
