A multiyear license allows an Ohio resident the opportunity to lock-in rates and avoid transaction fees for the length of the license. These licenses can be purchased for 3 years, 5 years, or 10 years. Permits and stamps must be purchased annually.

The cost of the license offers considerable savings and convenience to the holder and supports conservation programs. Revenue generated by lifetime licenses provide long-term financial support for Ohio’s fish and wildlife.

All Lifetime license holders will be mailed a plastic card (Ohio Conservation Card) to serve as their license.
Lifetime licenses and multiyear licenses can now be purchased . Proof of age and residency are required at time of purchase.

Who can purchase a lifetime or multiyear fishing license or hunting license?
Ohio residents. Any lifetime license or multiyear license purchased for yourself or as a gift allows the bearer to participate in hunting or fishing for the term of the license, regardless of future residence.

Can I buy a lifetime or multiyear hunting license if I haven’t taken a hunter education course?
Yes, if the licensee is not hunter-education certified, the individual will receive a license with an apprentice status (noted as AP on the license). This status requires that the holder hunts with a mentor until successfully completing a hunter education course.
What privileges does a lifetime or multiyear fishing license or hunting license allow?
A lifetime or multiyear fishing license or hunting license extends the privileges covered by the annual resident fishing license or hunting license. These licenses entitle the holder to fish or hunt in the state for the valid term of the license. All required permits (including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, fur taker, and shooting range) must be purchased separately.
Is my lifetime or multiyear license still valid if I move out of Ohio?
A lifetime and multiyear licenses will remain valid for those privileges purchased in Ohio regardless of a change in residency.
How can I purchase a lifetime or multiyear license as a gift?
When a lifetime license or multiyear license is purchased as a gift, all necessary age and residency documentation must either be presented at a wildlife office or to a notary for validation associated with the completed application.
If I receive a lifetime license or multiyear license as a gift, can I return it for reimbursement?
Refunds for a lifetime license or multiyear license fees will not be made under any conditions.
Can I transfer my lifetime or multiyear license to someone else or for another license type?
Lifetime and multiyear licenses are not transferable.
If I buy a youth lifetime or multiyear license, how long can I participate in youth hunts?
A lifetime or multiyear license has a youth status until the child’s 18th birthday. Once he or she turns 18, the individual is no longer eligible to participate in youth hunts.
I purchased a lifetime or multiyear hunting license that indicates I am an apprentice hunter (AP). How do I get an Ohio Conservation Card that indicates I am hunter-education certified (HC)?
If you take a certified hunter education course in Ohio, a new card with HC will be sent to you upon completion of the course. If you are certified in another state, contact 1-800-WILDLIFE (1-800-945-3543) for direction on how to validate and modify the account. Once this occurs you can purchase an Ohio Conservation Card at any agent that reflects this change. An alternative is to carry your hunter education completion certificate along with your license.
How do I replace my lost or stolen Ohio Conservation Card?
A duplicate card can be purchased at any agent or ODNR Division of Wildlife office.
If I purchase an Ohio Conservation Card for hunting and fishing, will I receive two cards or will both licenses be on the same card?
If both licenses have the same expiration date, you will receive one card; however, if each has a different expiration date you will be required to have separate cards. For multiyear conservation cards you will be charged $4.00 for each card issued.
