Ice fishing – 20 jan 2025

You never know what you will pull up through the ice. 

We have a nice blast of arctic air in the region. With that it looks like we may see some decent ice out on lake Erie proper.  as common lure out on the lake used to target walleye is the tried and true Swedish pimple. 

We just got a shipment in stock. Emerald shiner minnows in stock as well.

 

A “Swedish Pimple” refers to this type of jigging lure used on lake Erie particularly for ice fishing , where anglers commonly use it to target walleye and perch due to its effective action when jigged in the water column; the lure’s design allows it to quickly reach deeper depths and attract fish with its erratic movement.

Ice fishing for walleye often depends on the time of the day and month – early, mid, and late winter action is different. For example, you can target Walleye deep around noon in mid-winter, but they’ll often  move into shallower waters later in the evening.

Most anglers are doing pretty good out on the ponds reservoirs , east harbor and sandusky bay. 

 

Plenty of wax worms and spikes available.
