Maumee River Conditions- August 22, 2019

Well the ground seems to have absorbed most of the rain the area received the last few days. The river only rose about 1 foot bring it up to good fishable  and kayaking levels. When the visibility is low, bass have to rely almost entirely on their lateral lines to feed – which means you have to amp up your presentations to get their attention. The same baits may be effective, but you’ve got to tweak them a little bit. Opt for spinnerbaits  with blades that thump and vibrate a little better. Vibrating jigs, bulky plastics, and loud rattling cranks in the rising  water. It also pays off to use colors that will show up well in the murk – like dark blacks and blues for plastics, or bright chartreuse’s and oranges for spinner baits such as roostertails.

Have fun be safe and good luck fishing.
