The weather is going to be great today and the Maumee river level is perfect to go on down and target some smallmouth bass and catfish. We have been seeing some action for all sorts of species of fish this last week now that the warm temps have finally arrived. A lot of anglers have headed north into Michigan to target trout, pike , walleye , bluegills and more.
Its been hot. Real hot. Try some night fishing .
Cooler at night and the fish are more active versus the blazing heat of the day when they just lay up and chill in the deeper cool water.
Its a good tactic for targeting larger, nocturnal bass as they move into shallow waters to hunt for food
Lure Colors: Many experienced anglers use almost exclusively black baits. Against a moonlit sky or in deep shadows, solid black produces the sharpest silhouette, making it easier for bass to track. Topwater baits are a blast – I like using frog baits. Wake baits, crawling baits , and buzzbaits fished in a slow, continuous retrieve are great for shallow areas.
I am fully stocked on live bait.
Minnows- leeches- crawfish-waxworms and worms of all variety.
Have fun , be safe and God Bless America
