Maumee River

The water level has dropped  and wading to Bluegrass is possible for the first time in a week or so. We have seen an increase in fly fishermen trying there luck as the weather conditions have improved. While the Maumee is not typically thought of a “fly fishing ” river there are many local opportunities to go after the smallmouth and other species. many of the local ponds and lake are great places to throw a fly and go after some panfish as well.

This past week with the consistently high water we saw a lot of catfish taken from all points along the river. 1 oz or heavier, with  a juicy fat nightcrawler fished just off the bottom  near a break in the current has been the preferred method as of late.

Lake Erie

Surface Temp 79
Winds:NE 15-20 knots switching to E at 5-15
Waves 1 to 3 feet subsiding to 0~2 feet.
Water Clarity: Very Good, visibility remains good. Mud from storms has been pushing into the lake but settling out before it gets far.

We have Fathead Minnows in stock
We do have Frozen Emerald Shiners in the store as well.

Trolling:
Northwest Reef has produced some fish and north of West Sister. The undersized walleye are everywhere from what reports we are getting, just have to fish through them. Crawlers harnesses on bottom bouncers are hot right now.

Drifting:
Reports coming from the border, north of the island, and during low light they are still biting off Crane Creek, the Intake, around K and L Cans, Locust, Flat Rock, Cone and Crib low light hours. Crawler harnesses and bottom bouncers or casting weight forward is working best.

Perch:
Reports have been very good lately.
Good catches reported from A Can, B Can and out East of the Intake, over around D and G Cans have been good.

I found about 20 late model Okuma Reels in the  back room and have to clearance them out. Deadeyes, Okuma Trios- Epixors-  Ultralight and heavy dutys- and more -all marked down $10-$20 our already low prices

Have fun be safe and good luck fishing.
