Just a quick reminder that the 2018 fishing licenses are now available for purchase.
As you can see the water level has dropped one foot over night to 587, but is still 5 feet over normal and moving fast. Lots of debris still in the water.
Weather service is calling for light rain today and tomorrow then drying out Sunday and the rest of next week. Once that water level drops a bit more we may begin to see a few early runners and a few resident walleye start to move around . I know that a few locals have said they are going to head out and give it a try.
With the high water  many locations along the river are not accessible pushing fisherman down to White Street, Orleans Park, and Fort Meigs.
Blue Grass Island is closed to access once the water reaches 582 feet above sea level. This 582 number is basically the gauge we use as the “normal” river level.
Some of these fishing areas that I have mentioned may not be familiar to some of the newer walleye run anglers and out of towners, feel free to stop in the shop and we can point you in the right direction. We also have laminated maps available with most of the public fishing areas marked.
Have fun, be safe and good luck fishing.
