Very slow bite yesterday. We had report of only one or two fish caught -Ft Meigs and Jerome Rd. Â Today the ambient temp is not supposed to be over 32 degrees but the water temp is still in the 40s which is good.
Just a refresher : when the water level reaches 582 ft above sea level the Toledo metro parks typically put up a sign near the crossing areas saying that wading  to Bluegrass Island in prohibited for safety reasons.  Some times we say ” the flag is up at Bluegrass ‘ meaning that the warning sign is up.
Today with the higher water and increased current  white street and Orleans park access areas may be good spots to try.  Loner  leaders seem to have been working well the last week and go with 3/4- 1 oz weights to hit bottom. To days will be cloudy so try the darker colors first to see if sparks some interest.  Saw a few caught with green heads and black tails on days like this.
Walleyes in rivers situate themselves at the bottom–within inches of it, instead of suspended some distance above it. When current pushes by them overhead, a slack area tight to the bottom lets walleyes lie without overexertion, waiting for food to wash past. Thus the tactic of presenting the jig head just off the bottom.
