SUNSET/ LAST CAST-7:49 PM

WEIGHT:  5/8- 3/4 oz

Yesterday, Saturday, was the best day we’ve seen so far this month. Every year is different, but after that long, cold, brutal winter it seems like the run is off to a little bit of a slow start. Mainly because of low water conditions and extended periods of cold.  There’s pretty much three stages of the Walleye Run When there’s fish in the river. . The first being pre-spawn. Followed by the full spawn, and ending with post Spawn. Kind of feels up like we are still in the area of pre-spawn .

Regardless of the phase, I know one thing for sure the Fishing is only going to get better from here on out.

I sound like a broken record but a little bit of rain wouldn’t hurt just to freshen things up and bring the level up a little bit.

They are catching some fish out of Orleans Park, there’s a bunch of guys waiting out to the middle of the river. Do this: stand on the bank and in a area behind those guys( Without casting right into the middle of them) I promise you they’re standing in the middle of the fish and a good chance that you will catch fish from the shore behind them.  Fight the instinct the cast across the entire river chances are those fish are 10 to 15 feet right off the shore, at least at Orleans.

Buttonwood, bluegrass Island, Jerome Road, is where the concentration of Fisherman were yesterday, so that’s where the concentration of the fish were caught.
Chartuse yellow With a fire tiger tail was a hot bait. and anything with the glow head, or glow tail has been working good too.

Have fun, be safe, and good luck fishing
