Lake Erie:

Well it looks like we mostly made it through the mayfly cycle. Last week we had three solid days of perch bite. Once we get past this rain and wind I anticipate we should start seeing some steady perch fishing/limits. Last week most baot anglers concentrated around the intake, and up around A and D can. Regardless they’re out there.  The Walleye bite has been steady as well, you may occasionally get into a batch that you have to sift through some undersized, but all in all it’s been pretty good.

Our lakeside shop has fish cleaning available daily. Fresh perch and turtle meat far sale .

Maumee River:

We are banging some nice smallmouth bass in the river, and the catfish bite has been very good for a month solid. We needed this rain to bring the river up to just about normal levels . For the smallmouth -smaller crank baits and the choppo style top water baits have  been working very well.  Now that the water is up and moving a little bit maybe throw a crawfish style lure out there as well.

I think this season may have been the most summertime walleye we have seen caught in a long time.  I was a slamming good walleye run so more than usual of those fish stuck around the river. Up by the Providence Dam ,down in the Farnsworth area, and at the rock pile off Bluegrass Island. have all been good spots .  And I’m not talking those skinny scraggly summer walleye, I’m talking about some nice 18-20 inchers. Crack of dawn and sunset are best.

Kayaking:

Like I said now that we have water in the river we are able to do our longer trips down the river without scraping rocks the whole trip. That’s both up at our Grand Rapids shop and Maumee. We Have our weekly Kayak and you pick flower event on alternating Friday and Sunday evenings out of our Grand Rapids shop. And we have a new event coming up on 24 July, paddle and groove launching out of downtown Toledo. What happens is there’s a band on the barge in the river,  you paddle out- have a good time listening to some live music out there, and then hit the downtown scene when you’re done .

Blowout Kayak sale!

I’m trying to get rid of everything we have in stock this season so we can start from fresh next year. What that means every single Kayak at all three shops are on sale just $50 over cost. Take advantage of the sale and get them while they last!

have fun, be safe and good luck fishing and kayaking.
