ORLEANS PARK ON THE MAUMEE RIVER THIS MORNING

We have had a pretty good ice fishing season so far. Obviously this weeks warming trend is causing a significant melt.  There is still some of January and all of February left, which can still deliver a serious winter blast to the region and cause another refreeze on the lakes and ponds. Guess we have to keep an eye on mother nature and see what happens. We still have a decent supply of ice fishing gear and lures here at the shop, I will probably keep it out for another 3 weeks or so.

We have begun to get our “when is the walleye run going to start ? ” questions already. As many of you know the main determining factor of when the fish get that spawning urge is water temperature. When the Maumee warms into the 40’s that warmer water flowing into the colder lake Erie will trigger the run. With this winter being more “normal” than the last few we expect to start looking for those walleye first-second week of March. More details as we get closer.

We also have received most of our bulk floaters and twister tails , now’s a good time to stock up while we have plenty- supplies are limited.

Out with the old ,in with the new- I am clearancing out some St. Croix casting rods. A great deal at $20 off the marked price!

Have fun, be safe , and good luck fishing .
