Maumee River
The river is is still running a bit high but started to drop over night. Its been a tough spring with the almost continuous high water we have had the last few weeks.  Here in Maumee  the best bait the last 5 days has been  night crawlers on a 2 oz weigh fished just off the bottom, the white perch and catfish have been hitting that presentation well. As the level drops begin to mix it up and throw some chatterbaits and lead heads. The white bass  are still being caught today a few miles upriver from us in Grand Rapids, Ohio.  Located in Grand Rapids,  Mary Jane Thurston State park and  Providence  Dam harbor some  some of the best year around river fishing available . Situated along the historic Maumee River, 105-acre Mary Jane Thurston State Park offers a variety of day-use and overnight activities. The Maumee is not only scenic, but also provides some of the best stream fishing in Ohio. Boaters have access to the river while history buffs may explore the remnants of the old canal. The Maumee River’s northern pike, walleye, white bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, bullhead, sheepshead and crappie offer good sport all along this area.
We have also had reports of good largemouth bass  and pike fishing at Metzgers marsh, White bass being caught in numbers off the lake Erie piers and Some good catfishing at Orleans Park here in Perrysburg.
