The thaw is on! Wow yesterday definitely felt like a spring day. Down here on the Maumee River the ice is melting quickly, it should be a nice easy melt as long as the rains hold off for the next few days. Of course we will get rain in the next couple weeks that is just the nature of March in the spring and the water will rise but that’s okay. Between the ice melt, the sunshine and a little bit of rain will warm the River temperature just enough so that the river is warmer than the lake that it is flowing into, which will trigger that spawning instinct for the walleye. There are always a few early running walleye so we will keep an eye out for that in the coming couple weeks.
