Just a short update on what this massive amount of water dumped on us did to the river.
River level is up to 585 ft above sea level (up 4-5 ft from yesterday) and expected to crest tonight. Steady out and hold at the 585- 586 foot level tomorrow before it begins to come down tomorrow night and into Sunday.
While the water and the flow is up it is still possible to launch a boat and get out to some of your favorite fishing areas. we saw boaters doing better than waders today with several reports of limits and some singles and doubles . Button wood , jerome rd rapids area and near the tip of Bluegrass have been the better spots today and with similar conditions will probably be the best areas to try tomorrow.
The larger heads and twister tails have been working better in this muddy debris filled water, presenting a bigger bait target and and better vibration, expect the same tommorow.
Wading to bluegrass will not be possible tomorrow so plan accordingly.
Exercise caution when wading into this strong current, use a wading staff, dont go alone , keep a look out upstream for floating deris(trees) ,use common sense.
Be safe
