Maumee River Report:
Barometer: 30.01 inHg and steady
Wading to Bluegrass Island is possible this morning but may be closed later off as the water level continues to rise
Sunrise : 7:08 AM First cast)
Sunset: 6:26 PM (Last cast)
Yesterday the early morning bite was pretty good then fell off as the temperature dropped and the wind picked up. We saw some more steelhead caught–thats been over a dozen that we know of in the last week. The rain yesterday brough the river level up about a foot which is exactly what we needed. We should see a significant change in the numbers of walleye moving upriver.
The current has increased and water level will rise throughout the day. Continue to use a 36- 48 inch leader , and a heavier weight , 3/4 or 1 oz should keep the lure bouncing on the bottom.
COLORS: Black/ Xmas lights tail – Red head/ shimmer shad tail – green head/ chartrusse firetail – black head/motor oil fire tail- yellow head /green tail See attached photo
