  • The daily bag limit for walleye in Ohio waters of Lake Erie is 6 fish per angler. On March 1 the daily bag limit reduces to 4 fish per angler. The minimum size limit for walleye is 15 inches.
  • The daily bag limit for yellow perch is 30 fish per angler in all Ohio waters of Lake Erie.
  • The trout and salmon daily bag limit is 2 fish per angler. The minimum size limit is 12 inches.
  • Black bass (largemouth and smallmouth bass): the daily bag limit is 5 fish per angler with a 14 inch minimum size limit.

We saw a few walleye come in over the weekend with reports of not very many being caught.  Again we saw a few taken at all acces areas-Ft meigs, Bluegrsss , Button wood ,the Jerome Rd Rapids and even a few at Orleans park. This cold front has the ones in the river slowed down and we are still waiting for that first big push  to arrive from the lake . Very simply put we (and Ft Wayne  where the Maumee Originates ) need a good rain  to bring the level up and get those lake fish moving upstream . But all in all we have been very lucky with this unseasonably warm Feb  to even have had the opportunity fish. typically the weather doesnt even get the first  fish moving and caught til first week of March– so its still early.

Withe slower and low water use a  36- 48 inch leader , 1/2 , 5/8 or 3/4 weight and with the partly sunny day try some of the brighter colors.  Chartrusse green tail, Shimmer shad tail ( kind of a silvery pearl with sparkle )The berkly power baits Xmas lights and orange Sunkissed  seemed to work well yesterday  on a orange head. Also green head /motor oil tail is still working..
