maumee river report- 28 march 2026

Buckshots last day before “Buckshots Bait and Tackle ” Opens April 1st – 10408 corduroy rd , Curtis OH.  I think  she should buy us all a round(beer) on her way out.

WEIGHT:  -3/4 oz- 1 oz.
BLUEGRASS ISLAND- no crossing, the water is right there and it’s on its way up just a little bit to make it just a bit too sketchy to cross over today. It should crest today and then we’ll take a good look and see what it looks like tomorrow

Reality:  Its true that walleye tend to congregate in the same areas year after year, but they can be found in various locations along the river . However the river upstream of Jerome rd rapids is rarely fished. For example  Bendview Metropark is a wonderful area to spread out and avoid the crowd. 

Yesterday for the most part the bite was on pretty good.

The rain Thursday night put some more water in the river , freshened it up and got those walleye activated.

Pink. White.

Just about any variation of these two colors were working well.

5 ft leader- 3/4oz – bounce and set the hook when the bait stops bouncing. Bam! Fish on!

Ton of guys at bluegrass island and button wood  yesterday so thats where most fish were caught. Jerome rd rapids too.

Bring in your big jacks for the “big Jack Contest” Jacks are the male walleye by the way.  Current leader and weight to beat is 4.4 lbs.

We have a fresh batch of emerald shiners- crappie are starting to bite.
